…the rising tide

Forgive my ignorance

The inability to see

The truths that always elude

Yet right in front of me

An endless tide of doubt

Washes away every print

Till the ebb returns

Leaving just a hint

Retracing every step

Over and over so it seems

To find the path again

Somehow lost within dreams

I look into your eyes

Only love can this be

Then I see you with him

Waves return to swallow me

Blinded by love

Again I find a way

For just a moment of happiness

To return to that day

giancasey.words ©

…into the abyss

If only I could find the words

For the pain locked inside

You could understand a bit

The reason why they hide

If only I could say the words

Jumbled as I try to speak

I can see them so clearly now

Yet hide the moment I seek

Even on this wrinkled sheet

The thoughts get lost in ink

What started as an explanation

In an ocean does it sink

Into the abyss

giancaseywords ©

…should we let go

For you to want only me

Selfish so am I

To watch you with others

I can only try

I am not that strong

Not able to let go

Of the hurt once felt

So many years ago

When friendship turned to love

Everything so changed

Should we let go of Love

Could the friendship then remain

giancasey.words ©

…in a mirror

Born into this place

Forever am I bound

By the hope of love

Nowhere to be found

I try to trust everyone

An optimist some say

Been used so many times

With so much naiveté

Once I said I like to give

With complete sincerity

She replied I like to take

Took a year to see the imparity

Not a sad story

A tragedy none the less

Just the words that flow sometimes

As thoughts coalesce

As I look in the mirror

Just a reflection of me

But the truth I won’t hide

To always give myself,

As I hope you can see

giancasey ©

…no voice

Allow me once again

To try to explain

The madness of the words

Though given a chance

Will sound quite sane

I think like everyone

Yet hindered by my brain

It takes a roundabout

The words of happenstance

To form into this frame

I struggle with each day

Relationships amiss

Treading every wave and swell

The complexity of Love

For me a dark abyss

The answer is a simple one

Trust the only choice

To live in the alternative

A life with no integrity

Is a life with no voice

giancasey.words ©

…a ray of hope

The rain goes on for days

Streams swell to their brink

A torrent without restraint

A glimpse to how I think

To have thoughts like others

Peaceful days and restful nights

A dream of which I often dream

Always out of sight

One drop is all it takes

As a storm quickly follows

Thoughts build upon themselves

As clouds release their bellows

Endless has this fate been

Till the day I saw her eyes

The day the rays of sunshine

Looked upon me from the skies

The sky still cries for all of us

Every sister and every brother

It’s under the wings of love

We find comfort of each other

Alone we can be it seems

Look to the eyes that look back at you

You will find what you so need

The comfort you somehow knew

Was always there for you

giancaseywords ©

…if just for one more day

So many words I try

To arrange from left to right

To impart the way my brain works

To explain, try as I might

All but had given up on love

Conceded with regret

When she entered this cluttered life

A day I can’t forget

Damage to my brain you see

Has left me a bit confused

I can’t conceive subtleties

A notion lost when used

I fear my inabilities

Have caused her to much pain

Never my intentions

From which I can’t refrain

Seems fate lacks not irony

As I have searched all my life

For someone who could love me

Yet all I bring her is pain and strife

So I try to live without knowing

The minutia that haunts my day

Focused only on her love

Hoping she might stay

…if just for one more day

giancasey.words

…my girls

As I go to and fro

Within this space of time

It’s moments that take control

I rush to find my pen

Lest lose my very soul

A father of my two girls, granddaughters there are two

Raised only to be true

To themselves they never faltered

This I always knew

Resolute they are, I’m so very proud

Never compromised are they

To end male servitude

An epitaph so long to convey

To see “man’s” pretense

An ethos of long ago

Meant to subjugate any woman

The wrath of sanity

They will know

Just a metaphor

You know I like to use

To point out the errs of men

I choose to use this medium Of truth

With only ink and pen

A woman’s body is hers alone

I loave the minds who dare

To put their own ideals

As truth without fact so beware

I pretend not to know

Nor understand all of life

But I won’t watch a woman, girl or child

Be vilified  for life

Yes, Life is just that

My little girl at my side

Holding my hand

A piggy back ride

But you are not the judge,

Jury , god nor the law

Should you look to the extreme

As an example of how we fall

I speak to you as a son, father and grandfather

Do you think my ideals are evil

Can you quantify my sins

While you sit alone in solitude

With images kept within

I can only quote one man

Who said it so eloquently

Pick up the first stone

And throw your guilt at me

If from sin you are free

giancaseywords ©

…one true Love

Today I had a feeling

From deep within It found its way

So comfortably familiar

Seems never felt till this day

As if a weight had been lifted

And peace did overwhelm

At sea on a moon lit night

Ethereal figure at the helm

No destination on the horizon

Time’s hand has come to rest

Only the sway of the ocean

Cool breeze upon my chest

Here I shall forever stay

In the arms of the angel above

See, I was thinking of my Ani

My one and only Love

giancasey.words ©

…To Ani

You fill my heart

With happiness

I am a blessed so many ways

If I could give you

Only Happiness, I’ll try

The rest of my days

giancasey.words ©

…Until your voice speaks

I was with my grandson today

Children at their best

A dinosaur exhibit

Field trip for the class

Watched the awe in their eyes

Absorbing every detail

A room full of smiles

Knowledge so entailed

Then With guilt I fell silent

At the end of the day

My grandson so happy

Yet a child dead in the rubble

By the Tyrants of this day

Should I elaborate the names

Of the sycophant’s who blindly follow

No, too many they are

Just watch the news tomorrow

On a leash they are led

By the tyrants of war

Enticed by greed

Need not look very far

A politcian like a coin

Two sides do they wield

With only a toss

A dead child in a field

On a ride children of war are bound

They can not escape

Their world only fear

As only death and  hate await

The absence of humanity

We all should fear

As you watch world leaders

Bend a knee to the authoritarian ethos

…now here

Until your voice speaks

giancasey.words ©

.,.one word

I knew this word

From just a boy

I longed for years to say

To give my myself

To only one

And with one word I’d say

As time has passed

This word remains

Never did it fade

To say this word

A gift you see

A gift to me you made

I thank you so

A bit in awe

I really must admit

My gift to you

The words I write

To show that I commit

giancasey.words ©

…peaceful protest

A voice can be a weapon

Powerful when in chorus

A beautiful ensemble

When guided by respect

On a peaceful course

Silence, the result of hate

When violence turns a crowd

Disrespect of others views

Fans the flames that quell the loud

History does show

Peaceful protest gains results

Embrace each others views with

Communication not insults

Don’t fear the darkness

Of uncertainty

As Alice found that day

The glow of self discovery

Will always light your way

To see the possibilities

Born from Love

giancasey.words ©

…your words

Time does have a path

Guided by our choices

The steps we take

Not set in stone

But guided by our voices

The light is hear

Make no mistake

As you walk down every street

So much we have

In common

Just talk to someone you meet

From most every land

We can communicate

The fear of every despot

A common thread

That binds us all

Never let them forget it

As Herod took the lives

Of every boy 2000 years ago

So do the purveyors of war today

As children’s lives forgo

To the machine of warmongers

Stand as one,

with peaceful resolve

Remove the evil from power

Allow the common one

Who speaks for you

Above hatred then we can tower

With only your words

giancasey.words ©

…the epitaph

Billions are spent

on the hate of the day

To fund wars of greed

With your coins do you pay

authoritarians and tyrants

Are but only the tar

That binds the wheels of change

True relics they are

I’m sorry if I get a bit cryptic

In my passion against war

The passion to covet

A plague gone too far

On the graves of the innocent

Pockets are lined

And so, the epitaph of the tyrant

So be it defined

Justwords ©

giancasey.words ©

…equality

Now you have heard my rants

On the atrocities committed

A human virus now spread

Throughout the world by the tyrants

Much closer to home this epidemic

Dictated by the example’s leaders flaunt

Spread to city streets

Now has become endemic

I started with the obvious

The purveyors of present wars

Not forgetting those of the past

So artful at being devious

Only to infect the lives

Of hard-working men and women

The goal is only to degrade

And suppress that to be give

This is the tyrant’s playbook

Obvious for you and me

When backed by the simple coin

The lethality unveiled to now see

There is a break in the cloud of hate

As sunshine’s rays break free

Take solace in knowing there is hope

As their fears have come to be

Our children hold the power

One thing I’m certain to say

Let the tyrants of today

Only look to yesterday

Their fear is just one word,

Seen in the eyes of a child

Equality

giancasey.words ©

…every Day to Come

You found me in the dark

Lost forever in servitude

Behind the bars of this birdcage

Against the cold walls of solitude

So be this simple poem

A conduit of my thoughts

To say the words so dear to me

Feelings I long since sought

The Love for you I can’t explain

Grows stronger every dare I say

How can this even be

But that endless is our love each day

I love you Ani My Love

With all my soul and heart

The words that flow so easily

Begin in each poems start

Paper and pen my early friends

Allowing me to say

The Love I will always have

For you My Love Each Day

   And every Day to Come

giancasey.words ©

…from my heart

As letters fly by

As on the wing of a bird

In haste do I try

Onto paper put the words

Sometimes out of reach

Clouded from view

As I look in a mirror

From the past I see through

The words are always there

Some fade to the grey

Others emerge

With the thoughts meant to say

To sit and write

A therapy on the verge

Calming the confusion

As left and right brain merge

What I meant to write

Though far from the start

I love you, just three words

That come from my heart

giancaseywords ©

…From the truth

To see the parallels

Of the past that can’t lie

With the political unrest

Now again gone awry

Barry Goldwater an example

Back in 1964

The sky is falling

Now the ethos in today’s campaign, I abhor

Rhetoric the only tool

Simple minds tend to use

Only to misdirect

Only to confuse

Conversation with respect

The tools of true leaders

Hatred and distain

Used only to mislead…

us from the truth

giancaseywords ©

The day to come…

Crimes against humanity

A most basic crime to commit

That is Killing civilians

In the name of war to wit

As Putin, BB and their sycophants

Use the power of their veto

A power play used by nations at war

Though some pretend to be incognito

Let every nation shed their shield

I propose a new dawn to this day

Stand hand in hand with open minds

An end to Murder by they..

A Common Law you see

For the human race to make

To sign, commits the integrity

One new step to take

Beware of those to veto

Always poised to amend

An agenda for a means

But selfish for the end

Under the guise of “leaders”

Always with a smile

They hide in plain site

But a Jackal all the while

Till the day of their trial

Just follow your moral compass
