A scent of honeysuckle in the air

Snatching a fly
I lay here today
Eyes fixed on the sky
A stray cloud slowly walks
On it’s path so defined
The shape of a mountain peak

Thunder calls out her name

As she washes away the dirt

The free walk resolute

Relentless is the pace
A never-ending race
As I look into a mirror
Each day etched upon my face
In a picture on a wall
The past as I recall
The image not as clear
Nor the memories that befall
A gift I found one day
I stumbled along the way
As journey’s end comes near
A watch left from the grey
To look ahead you see
A gift for you and me
Guided by the past
